the office

I heard that The Office … one of my friend’s favourite TV shows is airing in America. I watched it in UK. The Office is a single-camera documentary-style look into the humorous and sometimes poignant foolishness that plagues the world of 9-to-5 in the half-hour comedy on a group of typical office workers. There the workday consists of inappropriate remarks, petty behaviour, tedium, and zero productivity. All in a day’s work. Based on the award-winning BBC hit of the same name.
I couldn’t agree more when one said that the British make some of the best programmes in the world. Meanwhile, instead of just airing the programming, American networks have to remake it which by now after countless takes on Faulty Towers, One Foot in the Grave, Ab Fab, Coupling, Cold Feet, Men Behaving Badly, etc. they still have money to throw away remaking The Office.
Most Americans are too ignorant to see into other cultures etc. For example the "remake" of The Ring and The Grudge. Both are Asian films and in The Grudges case ... it was even directed by the same person. If Americans don’t "know" the actors and actresses and if it isn’t ‘attractive’ enough, it’ll fail. At a video store in America people wouldn’t rent Passion of the Christ because it had subtitles. And they complain about black and white and how foreign films suck. I’m glad to be Indonesian!
