divali's festival
about two weeks ago Mbak Elisabeth from the Indian Embassy sent me an invitation to Festival of Light at the residence of the Ambassador. the place would be in Jl. Taman Suropati No. 6 (just around the corner of the Suropati Park) at 19h30. at first, it didn't take me long to decided that i shall attend the function. i was planning to go with Kang Yudi (since he is also an alumnae of ITEC Program), but he was sooo busy for his business travel to Netherlands, therefore I left alone with no date to go there last night. i hesitated a little bit, especially since i was already home yet already in my 'smart casual' attire. i'm not so sure i could call it 'smart casual' because i was ewaring modern kebaya and cordura bottom with high heels. than i called Mourad and we were chatted about whether i should go there or not. he went to a similar function back in January at his place in Algeria. and with a new excitement i went to last night's function by myself. it turned out to be okay. the families and staff members of the embassy entertained us with five dances. traditional and bollywood dances. i have to say that they just looove to dance! (and who doesn't know that for a fact!).
during the performances, waitress served us with Indian snacks. it tasted so spicy just as i remember it. the crowd was ok, the food was great. we had Methi Malai Matar, Dal Makhni, Tawa Sarzi, Kadai Paneer, Capcai, Vegetables Noodles, Roti Naan, Peas Pulau, and Chicken Butter, not to forgot yogurt to ease off the taste.for dessert, we had Gajar Halua and the 'too sweet' Gulab Jamun. and ... since it was a 'festival of lights', i took the time to shoot the artificail 'lights', but i hope it didn't put-down the spirit.
