oil price

The best thing about yesterday was the discussion about oil price rising. It was with Pak Bambang and he came up with some ideas about next month oil price that is predicted to touch 50% of present price. It was a lively discussion, but most of us are not practitioner of oil field. Some just interested because it is related to public sphere and few (like me) just there for the knowledge. Our dependency toward foreign countries started long time ago when they started to explore and exploit our natural resources. It is a law of nature actually. In order to win someone you have to make them owe you something. Lend them money, spoil them with conveniences, make them depend on you and when they do, ask for something for your own gain. It will be difficult for them to say no, and if they say so, just stop your assistance and let them suffer. In our case it was the development of our country. In order to not allowing them to take every single natural resource we have, we just get to be on our own immediately. Free ourselves from foreign aid and (for me myself) it is quite difficult since I really need their support on my doctor degree laughing out loud! The discussion decided that we should start to find other alternative of fuel which are abundant in our country like geothermal, mine, and gas.
Anyway, what amused me was my big boss. I’m not so sure what kind of management he is using, but he always has a way of assertively pushing people to do things in random –unorganised-. Just like yesterday. Since the speaker is very familiar with the issue, he pointed him out on the spot as the moderator for our next seminar on the very issue next Monday. I think he is using management qalbu (not-so-evil-grin). Anything goes as long as he thinks (shortly I assume) it is good. Just like when he had something on his mind at 10 a.m. and he decided to hold a press conference at 12 a.m. How in the world his staffs were going to gather the press? It’s not an easy piece of work!
